Monokuro Boo

A quick ami from last night. Not quite perfect but it was pretty fun to make since the shapes were super simple.

I've also started piecing together my blue crochet bag. I bought the rest of the stuff yesterday and pretty soon I'll have another bag to add to my collection!

I'm thinking of using my amigurumi bunny as the main charm for this bag. The fabric and little flower edging I bought at the fabric store last night and the bunny buttons came from delishbeads after twinkiechan went and made a post about the cute stuff you can get!

With lace costing an arm and a leg I decided to just crochet my own. I may steam the lace I made before sewing but I'm usually pretty lazy about doing that. I think I just hate the waiting part.

My fiance's mom had this great idea to put some cute buttons on the inside side of the straps near the bottom. Not only will this reinforce the straps (where all the tension will be applied) it's also a cute detail for the wearer. Here's a better glimpse of the bunny buttons I bought :D it's an awesome coincidence that they fit just right!

Here's a better photo of the different elements and how they'll be working together. You can also see the detail in the lace and the floral edging (that one I bought). The fabric has cute little white dots which will show through the spaces of the granny squares. Since the fabric is only printed on one side we'll be doubling it up once we start sewing it together. I also got another magnetic clasp to use as a fastener to keep my bag closed.

If you noticed in the first picture I had my bunny donned in a tutu lookin' thing and here's the close up shot of it. This part is also crocheted by me; it's another ruffle edging pattern that I've gone and used for the dress for my bunny. The pink crochet thread I'm using is pretty close in color to the pink I used for the bunny so that's another awesome fluke on my part :3 might use a cell phone lariat and/or a pin back sewn to the back of its head as means to attach it to my bag.

I'm also thinking of crocheting up some cute hearts but I dunno if that's going to start wandering into the cluttered and bloaty side of designing this. I wanted to add some pink to break the monotony of having an all blue bag. That way I can match it to more of my dresses rather than just matching one...like my strawberry bag:

bag, lace, pig
