Drabble: Kisses
Nate kisses her like he’s trying to prove something.
Like he’s trying to convince her he’s not in love with her best friend. Like he’s not using her so his Dad can secure her mother’s business.
He fills his kisses with so many not-so-hidden meanings and promises that after awhile become blurred. She can’t tell the difference between kisses of love or kisses of lies.
Sometimes she questions if there was really any love at all.
Of late, his promises are always broken, his meanings often misinterpreted. Kisses that were once fuelled with such passion are now empty, even bitter.
Her ‘perfect future’ doesn’t seem so perfect now.
But she continues to kiss him and pretend.

His kisses tell her so much, which is ironic, considering the amount of effort he puts into trying to mask his true feelings. They’re filled with badly hidden meanings and promises meant only for him.
Kiss. (I’m not in love with your best friend.)
Kiss. (I don’t care about your money.)
Kiss. (This is who I am.)
Kiss. (All I want is you.)
Lust, want, desire…love; it hits her like a bullet and for once she’s caught in the crossfire without a bullet proof vest.
The future of her heart remains unclear, but as his torrent of kisses continue to rain down on her, she knows one thing -
She can’t wait to find out.
