Weekend Rundown

Saturday I had signed up for a MeetIn event at Woodstock Wine & Deli. For a while I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it because it had been snowing pretty heavily at my place for several hours. I made my trip plan on TriMet, and crossed my fingers. A couple hours before I was due to leave the snow changed to rain, so I decided to head out.

While I was getting ready, I was chatting with ghstintheshl and he decided to come too. He was parking just as I stepped off the bus, so the timing worked out well. We checked in with the host and got in line.

I got a glass of Malbec and headed over to sit by a friend I made at the January Mingler I went to at Zaytoons. We pretty much stayed at the same table, but there were a lot of folks coming and going and I got to meet a bunch of great folks. Afterwards J gave me a ride home, and I sent a couple notes to the people I met.

Sunday, I had a hankering to go see a movie, but most of the stuff out in the regular theaters, I've either already seen, or didn't want to see. A friend of mine had tipped me off to an indie flick called "Teeth" and I found out that it was playing downtown at the Regal Fox Tower. There were 11 of us in the theater, 9 women and two guys, and the guys came in after the flick had started.. perhaps they didn't want to be seen catching this particular movie.

Today I've decluttered my plastic tupperware and tossed a bunch of it. Anything without a matching lid or melt marks or other issues went into the recycling bin. I also reorganized my dish shelves so that all the plates and bowls are ready to hand and all the tupperware is stored with it's top on.

After accomplishing that I decided to go whole hog for dinner tonight. I spent about an hour chopping and prepping. I've got a tomato & cucumber herb vinaigrette salad in the fridge marinating, have two chicken breasts marinating and thawing, and chopped up a bunch of veggies to do roast vegetables. This time I learned my lesson from the two previous times and put the red potatoes in the microwave to cook a bit so that they'll be done at the same time as the rest of it. I've got those marinating in the olive oil and herbs and all ready to go.

I was hoping to invite my neighbor to dinner so I could share the bounty, but he's up in Seattle for the week, so I'll just have a ton of leftovers for the next few days, which isn't bad either.
