14. Seize the Night - Dean Koontz - 401 pages. Apparently this is the second in a series of books about the main character, but I didn't have any trouble following along. Several Koontz regular themes run through it including genetically altered animals, characters with genetic defects, or other problems that ostracize them, rescues, and generally strange happenings going on. I really enjoyed it, and finished it quickly. I love how he shows the intricate connections between characters with deep descriptions of their backgrounds and views, which makes you care about them more deeply.
