Dad didn't undergo radiation therapy yesterday as planned. Seems that they found a little infection in his urine test, so they loaded him up with antibiotics, and decided to aim at next week instead. Which is fine, but you would think someone would've called me and told me that, wouldn't you? Um, no, not so much. I'm always reluctant to call my folks during the day because my brother works third shift and I didn't know if Dad would need rest after radiation or what -- I'm not real sure about the procedure yet, I need to do more research. So I waited all damn day before calling about 4:30 pm yesterday, only to have Dad himself answer the phone and tell me about the delay. Yeah, thanks, Guys. Nice to know I rate so high -- he called his sister and told her........and she wasn't even there for his initial surgery, the coward! I was there, but yeah........
So, anyway, I'm, uhm, I'm the mother of Rock Gods.
Yeah.
Thought I'd just let my friends know here, you know, before the rush begins.
My sons, Gryffud and Coelred (to use their SCA names), have a metal band called Shedu. They played their first gig Friday night, and they packed the club. The crowd went wild -- literally! There was even a mosh pit. The whole gig was a benefit for the Roller Derby Girls League they have in Seattle, and there were four bands on the show, and Shedu was first. And they packed the place. People left after their set. They were THE stars, in other words. So yeah, if your kids or nieces or nephews or grandkids start showing a preference for long hair and loud guitars, I guess you'll get to blame me. And in case you're wondering, why, yes -- I AM SO FREAKING PROUD OF THEM I COULD JUST MELT RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!
Just sayin'
Here's some pictures of Shedu in action
:
Yes, this IS a picture of a happy Gryffud. The only known photo of him smiling while not being by his lovely wife, Kerry's, side. Drink it in, folks!
The pictures above were taken by the band's good friend, Tatiana.
And here's some pictures of them at practice. These were taken by their friend, a great photographer, Anna:
Coelred and uber-cool Bass man, Jim:
Rhythm master, Blake
Lord of Thunder and Drums, Bror.
And one more of Gryff, just 'cause I love to see him play the guitar!
Plus, they have a Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/SheduBand (Not that I'm pimping them out or anything.....) They have some music posted there, which I think is quite good, although they assure me that they have other songs now, which sound much, much better.
And, as I understand it, they may have another show quite soon, and they're talking about maybe recording an EP or even a CD, in the near future.
So, if you like metal, which I do, and you want to hear a good band, look them up. You might want to do that soon before the rest of the World discovers them and tramples you to get to them. I mean, if you're SCA, you can always tell them that you know their mom. Don't be surprised if they ask you to spell my name, though. This momma didn't raise any fools, you know.
Or you could wait until their version of Rock Band is released. Up to you.
:-)
