An Entreaty to the Gods

Feb 22, 2010 15:16

*deep breath*
*ground and center*
*feel your connection to the Earth going down your spine, through the bottoms of your feet, spreading like deep roots into the Earth below you*
*breathe out*
*open the Circle*
*pray*

"Oh Great Goddess, She who is the Good Mother Earth; Danu, Mother of Wisdom and Peace; Freya, Great Goddess of Life and Sex; Emain, Lover and Mother of us all; I, Your humblest of servants, implore You:"

"And to You, Mighty All-Father; You, Who are the Universe; Shining Lugh, God of all Skills; Herne, Who is Wise Protector; Odin, Who Sacrificed Himself for Wisdom; I, Your simple handmaiden, send an earnest plea:"

*deep breath, in and out slowly; repeat*
*pray*

"Please, Oh Gods Above and Below, send Spring soon to Your beloved children; lest the Winter doldrums drive them all completely insane!  Let those among Your children who are blessed with knowledge and good sense speak soothing words to bring Peace to all I know and love!  Let those who speak stupidity, ignorance and with viciousness in their hearts shut the fuck up!"

*deep breath, in and out*
*closing ritual*

"I thank You, All-Mother and All-Father, and ask You to remember that I am wholly Thine; All that I am and all that I shall ever be comes from You, My Mother, and Your Consort, the Lord of the Trees.  And Goddess, if it should be me that speaks with viciousness and stupidity, please seal my tongue to the roof of my mouth."

"So Mote It Be"

*deep breath. draw the roots from your feet back into your body.  disconnect with the Earth as much as you can and try to behave in a civilized manner.*
*close the Circle*

prayer, the gods
