Al Gore

Al Gore has been making the rounds of various talk shows (Today, Oprah, Jay Leno) to promote An Inconvenient Truth, which just came out on DVD. There is talk that he is also angling for an Academy Award nomination, or possibly preparing for a presidential run in 2008. Sadly, since Gore is the star of the movie but not its producer, he would not personally get to accept the award, not that it matters, since if I remember correctly from 2000, the rules state that whenever Al Gore wins something, George W. Bush gets to accept it.

Maybe if the film wins Best Documentary, the producers could begin their speech by saying "We'd like to thank Justices Kennedy, O'Connor, Rehnquist, Scalia and Thomas, without whom this film would not have been made."

news, not cty, movies, politics, not baseball
