Flevofestival
The 18th of August me and Hugo went to one of the biggest Christian festivals in Europe, which is held in my little country.
I've always wanted to go there once, and this time UnderOath was coming as well. I've never seen UO play since they rarely visit my country for a gig, so it was double yay for me!
Sadly we did have quite some rain on the day itself. Thankfully UO played in a tent.
When it was dry, we did explore the other areas as well. Evidence:
Check that derpy face y'all!! Also it looks like i was wearing some kind of gangstah nikes or something. They are actually (fake) white Converse.
After a day of running from dry spot to dry spot, the time was near. UnderOath was going to start in a mere minutes and guess who was there in the front, on the left?
Sadly the picture turned out to be really blurry, because i actually do like this photo of me. And that's probably a first.
SPEEEEEENNNNCCCCCCEEEEERRRRRRRR!
*SCRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM*
And of course UnderOath consists of more bandmembers so here ya go:
Sadly there were technical difficulties so the sound was off and it was apparant it would not last long. They did apoligize for it, but really, it's not their fault anyways. It was still a great gig, though i would definitely like to see them again in a venue with a better soundcrew.
The show ended at 10 and we hasted to make it to the bus who was supposed to bring the festival-go-ers to the trainstation. However at half past ten it still wasn't there and we really needed to get to the trainstation in time, since this would be the last train and otherwise we had to stay on the station for an entire night.
So we hitchhiked and got a ride from a businessmen also coming from the festival (Though invited by the business club and with their own vip tent) He actually did not have to go to the station but was friendly enough to drop us off there anyway. Also i do NOT like to be photgraphed when i've just been headbanging for an entire hour, thank you very much!
THE FAMILYTRIP
In the weekend of August 26 we went on a familytrip with my family in law since Hugo's parents are married for 25 years this year.
This was the first time i had to drive this far (around 500 kilometers, 1000 in total) so i was a bit nervous. As some of you might remember, i once wrecked my dad's car and ever since i'm not that sure behind the wheel anymore.
Thankfully most of the roads were speedways, and since i like to speed, that's fine. However my dad-in-law's TomTom directed him through Liege/Luik which is a total nightmare! The Belgians don't feel like putting roadsigns up to tell you which lane you have to get, so there were some close encounters.
I rather drive the roads in the Ardennes, though at first i did not know i had to shift back gears while climbing up. Oh well.
We were supposed to go kayaking the first day, but the waterlevels were to low (while it was raining quite a lot, funny how it works) So that saturday we visited a cave and an old burght.
On sunday my sister-in-law wanted to do something active (they are a really active family, while i'm more cultural) so she, Hugo and his 2 brothers decided to go rock-climbing. Thankfully my mother-in-law is also afraid of heights, so i had a good excuse to stay on the ground.
I mean...Yikes!
The one in the beige-grey sweater is Hugo, below him his brothers and sister.
Nope, I wasn't going up there!
That's me and my mother-in-law Marijke.
We walked down the river to where my hubby and her children were climbing. Both very relieved we weren't up there, though Marijke couldn't actually watch since the height scared her.
Instead we braved the cold water of the river. She's not on this picture but this was right after i retrieved her slipper, which had caught on the stream and started to drift.
And here are the brave rockclimbing siblings!
From left to right: Theo, Josefien, Hugo (my husband) and Jefta.
So that's it for now. I figured i should make more pics too, since they are memories i'm not sure my mind will keep.
It's hard though, when i'm in it, because i can only see the ugly and the fat. But i keep on telling my self that 80-year old Weird of the future would really like to have them, so here we go.
