Hello folks! I've posted here a few times about weird history stuff I've discovered in my life in Paris, most notably my post about the

The Beast of Gévaudan is an old obsession of mine from way back when I was just a plaid-skirted little girl at Catholic school. I was quite surprised to discover there were so many similar incidents in France. Have you visited the Lozère region? I'm curious about what it's like there.

I've never been to Lozère, but I've done enough research and traveled enough in France to have a pretty good idea of what it's like: It's the least-populated of the departments of France, so it's basically just lots of forests, mountains, and farmland. A good home for a monster!

This is a bit irrelevant to the main topic here, but have you ever been to Thiviers? According to Wikipedia there are two wolves of Périgord preserved and on display in a chateau there. It's difficult to tell what they really look like from the wee photo on the wiki, but they do seem a bit unusual from what I can see.
Oh, and I just found a rather comprehensive website devoted to La Bête: http://labete.7hunters.net/
My apologies if you've seen it already--I've only recently started to read about these things on the internet, so it's all new to me. :)
