Weird and Cool Paris History — The Wolves of Paris

Oct 27, 2009 21:41

Hello folks! I've posted here a few times about weird history stuff I've discovered in my life in Paris, most notably my post about the Café de L'Enfer, a Hell-themed café in Paris' red light district in the 19th century. It's great to know there are people out there who appreciate these kinds of things!

I've just launched a new website called Cool Stuff in Paris, collecting all kinds of things to see and do in Paris that are weird, interesting, lesser-known, unusual, or downright creepy. The focus of the site is not history, per se, but along with my recommendations for normal stuff like museums and restaurants, I'm also writing about bizarre historical events that haven't left any physical trace, so tourists who're into that weird stuff can use my site to at least find the spot in Paris where such-and-such happened and take a picture there, or just stand there and think. I'm basically writing about the things that I look for myself when I travel.

Today I have a new article up about The Wolves of Paris — a pack of wolves who terrorized central Paris in 1450 and managed to kill forty people!

With your permission, I'll post links to my weird history-related articles here as they come up. And don't worry, I'll spare you the restaurant reviews and boring stuff, and just put the strange and gruesome historical articles here.

Thanks for reading!
