As usual, this was very nicely done. Like before, you've taken an IRL kerfuffle and translated it very nicely into Hetalia terms and character interactions. I enjoyed your dialogue, especially the bit about England mentioning the Armada, and Spain's reaction, and then Romano jumping in to defend Spain. Oh, that was perfect :D And the IRL financial implications of the whole England preferring the US over Europe fit back in to Hetalia shippings and character dynamics (France. xD)
Maybe you should move some of the notes to the top of the fic? The story really doesn't make much sense otherwise if you don't get what the acronyms are referring to. And I didn't find it offensive (then again, I'm just as American as you are, so my opinion isn't too relevant) especially given that you disclaimed the possible offensiveness of the situation. I think we all know you're not actually calling those countries Pigs.
I am looking forward to the next part of this - EU shenanigans, France/Germany (if I may suggest, you should write something more dedicated to them sometimes, since you clearly have a very grasp on the characters), US/UK and snarky comments!
/long comment is long.

Heh, I swear I get so much inspiration from reading the news and just following up on foreign policy. XD It's so much fun and I've become kinda addicted to EU politics, now that I want to move there. And England's relationship Europe is just so...funny.
That's a good point about the notes -- I totally forgot that the acronyms aren't commonly seen, thanks. :P And I'm glad it's not offensive, I became paranoid after reading too many scathing comments from northern vs southern Europe. :)
Yes, I really want to write more France/Germany! (And the EU, ahah)

You're right that if the abbreviations were more commonly known, you could have put the notes at the bottom. Either that, or you could have explained it in context? At any rate, I think you made it clear that it wasn't actually you using those acronyms, and anyway you don't approve of using them, so :) I don't think you'll have a problem.
Clearly you're good at writing all the characters, so :D

I think people were proposing replacements like GIPSI or PIGIES. I doubt that last one would go over well, even if some people considered it cute. XP
Thank you. ;)
