Standing out in the wooded mountains of New Hampshire on a winter night can chill you to the bone, confuse you to hell as why you're anywhere, and make you question everything. Your breath freezes as it leaves your mouth so you're not sure whether or not you're smoking a cigarette and just forgot about it for an instant, and the wind can chill you to the bone. The air is so cold and devoid of motion that the stars don't even twinkle, they are steadfast little pinpricks in the sky, and the moon seems as bright as the sun. It makes you feel so small, because you know just how far a mile would be in those conditions on foot, that you feel like nothing at all.
But sometimes, even under such overwhelming conditions you can find yourself coming up with answers/propositions for some of the harder shit you've had difficulty sorting out. I was knocked flat on my ass seeing stars above my head when I showed up... Now I'm still seeing stars above my head, but I'm standing, leaning my head back and taking it all in. Just figured I'd share. If answers were grains of salt in a shaker, I still don't even know enough to put a dash on my dinner's vegetables, but whatever. I know more than I did before.
Anyway, when I come home I'm going to get myself a kitten. Preferably female, and I can probably find one for free or cheap. I'll have to get hr spayed relatively soon after I get her, and I'll raise her proper and name her Mary-Jane. :) Yes, I know, immature, but it's a nice name besides the double meaning (which unfortunately, I did mean to happen, I know... child). Anyway, that will be a light unto my darkness. :) Or maybe I could name her Nico Blue, after the singer, after Shannon Hoon's daughter. :) We shall see. :)
