Chill in the air

We saw the movie Religulous on Friday night. Apart from Bill Maher being too aggressive while interviewing most people, I loved the movie. I agree with his views on religion, and while he says I'm one of many others in the 16% who are non-religious, I usually don't feel like it. It's hard to find others who are agnostic, so the movie was very redeeming. Overall the movie was hilarious and half the people in the theater were laughing out loud, but the last 5 or so minutes were downright frightening, and realistically so.

And then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, we attended an Episcopalian wedding the next afternoon. It was more like a sermon than a wedding, with hardly any time given solely to celebrating and marrying the couple. 90% of the time was spent singing praises to Jesus, saying prayers to God and Jesus, and then doing Communion. I could not have felt more out of place and uncomfortable, except for the fact that this was a lesbian wedding. Wow. Anyway, on the plus side, lots of our friends were in attendance so we got to catch up with them afterwards, including C+C who were visiting from VT. At the casual potluck reception in our local park afterwards, it felt like old times chatting with everyone. We had to leave a little early though in order to drive to the Melting Pot in VA and meet up with S's parents and Suz for Suz's birthday. We enjoyed a yummy meal of melted cheese and chocolate and much conversation.

Yesterday was a day of rest, but not without our usual trip to the Farmer's Market for goodies, including those delicious Honey Crisps. Only 3 more Farmer's Markets left this year *sniff*
