Shake it!

Though I had a cold this weekend, and am still recovering, I had a lot of fun. On Friday night, I drove to B-more to meet up with J (who was my the show with me) and we saw "6 Dead Queens and an Inflatable Henvy VIII" at Mobtown Players. Though that's fairly self-explanatory, it was about the 6 wives of Henry VIII who are trapped together in the afterlife and fighting over who was the "true queen." I enjoyed the show immensely...it was well-acted and sung with both drama and comedy. Afterwards, we went to a diner and ate very, very bad, but tasty food. Our waiter was highly amused by the fact that J ordered a pizza bagel, explaining that only kids ordered those, and every time he walked past our table, he would start laughing. Strangely enough, it never grew old.

On Saturday, I went to my gay pride group's annual meeting. Attendance was meager, as most of the people who came used to be on or are currently on the Board. Luckily, it seems most of the current Board members, myself included, are in favor of turning the group into more of an informal social club. No more high-pressure events. Afterwards, I drove to Alexandria to meet S, my parents and S's family for dinner. My parents had just seen S's matinee and loved it, and the rest of us were slated to see the evening show. I found the show to be consistent and enjoyed hearing S's parents' take on it. S & I went to a cast member's house for a party after the show and I had a good time chatting with everyone and meeting all of the actors I hadn't previously met.

Yesterday I did something I never thought I would do...

My friends A+C had won a free belly dancing lesson from some auction and had a middle-eastern themed party. After noshing on appropriately-themed food, we were treated to a belly dancing show and then lessons. It was not really my intention to dance, but when they handed me a coin belt, I couldn't help myself...

The ladies show us how it's done

Then they give us lessons, starting with hip movements. I am completely dorked out in this picture as I get into the groove.

Then they teach us arm movements, and we all feel like octopi

My favorite part was when they broke out the finger cymbals

We got to play with them, too

Group shot!
