"Welcome to your reunion"

Last night we went to S's company holiday party. This was the same company that I left 9 months ago, and upon giving my 2 week-notice, was escorted out due to a crazy mix-up. Thus, I recognized about half the people there and one of my old coworker friends said "Welcome to your reunion!" which felt very true. First they packed us like sardines into a hallway for a happy hour during which I inhaled a glass of wine for smooth sailing the rest of the night. I bumped into people I had always liked which was nice, and people I always knew were two-faced, but we were all civil and polite to each other.

They then loaded us into a ballroom for a sit-down dinner buffet. Highlights/lowlights included a 10 minute conversation about french bulldogs doing agility courses, seeing a former manager get smashed, and dancing the electric slide of all things. The music was definitely reminiscent of Bar mitzvahs I've been to. I wonder if they even play that music at Bar mitzvahs anymore...

I gotta say though, the food was great and it was a pretty fancy event. It beat my company's casino-themed little shindig. There were a handful of people I had truly missed and it was lovely to chat with them. It was also nice to be out and open with S in front of everyone.
