I'm going to say a lot of stuff people have been too afraid to say for whatever reason. I'm not putting anyone down and I like the people I might end up mentioning but there are some things that are relevant to this post and I'm going to speak freely, as everyone should

I wholeheartedly agree with you on that one, too. I could play anything from Terrence Fixmer to Venetian Snares at Saphir but at Passeport, I got shit on for playing a lesser-known Negative Format track. Ugh.
As it's proven every so often, people chant "fuck this, and fuck that" then establishments close down, then they wonder why there's no more place to go out, when they finally feel like going out.
It's negative, and I won't be a part of that way of thinking, I'm doing what I'm doing to keep things going in this city, last thing anyone needs is a bunch of whiney "fuck this and fuck that" arrogants.
I'm with you on that one! Claude and I became friends when he caught me giving certain whiny fucks the finger from underneath my console. Hehe. I was known for telling people that, if they weren't happy, they could go elsewhere. Maybe that's what got me in trouble at Passeport. *cough*
I know what you mean, though. I think that, not havnig the same status that you have, I got a little overwhelmed by all the bitching and whining. I am not ashamed to admit that I let it get to me and that is why I have taken so much time away from spinning...
Anyway, Rose, what should DJ Khimera do now? in my opinion, if you feel strongly about the music you want to spin, and you are willing to put in the time (it won't be easy, believe me), don't give up, starting an event, be it monthly, weekly, or yearly takes alot of perseverence, and work. I can tell you horrifying stories about how I got DWN started, and it was an uphill battle all the way for the first 5 years, but we didn't give up, and we put alot of work into it. It's not only about finding a club that's having a hard time, downloading mp3's, making a few posters, and calling all your friends, it's much more involved that that, and you must take the time to see it through thoroughly. Stick to your vision of an event, then make it happen. Oh yeah, and most importantly (due to the fact thast I've experienced this) Don't rely on the goth scene completely, try to go for crowds that really like that sort of music, but who arn't necessarily part of the scene.
Oh yeah, and when or if all this happens, I'd be HAPPY to be your filler ;)
Dude, when I read this my eyes welled up. For real. Thanks a lot for your encouragement and support. Again, coming from you, it means more than anything!
And I know you're right about the scene thing... I've been thinking about that a lot and I think I know where I'm headed, now. I need to get my real estate course out of the way and then I think I'll be ready to jump back in, 100%.
Again, thank you so much. I think I'll be around March 10th (the day before this year's birthday bash) to say hello and catch up a little between mixes. *big hugs*
