fuckin tube strike

Sep 05, 2007 13:04

london is currently in the midst of a 72-hour tube strike. 9 of the 12 lines are shut down completely, and the other 3 lines are far away from where i am...not to mention that they are incredibly crowded and delayed. the buses are overpacked as well. everything i need is within walking distance, but it's still a pain in the ass. i can't get anywhere across town or anything! and if the strikers don't reach a deal this week, the same thing will happen next week. ugh

i'm trying to line up some football tickets. fulham vs. man city on the 22nd (i'm gonna call about that tonight, the website says there's still availability), and my suitemate (who is a big chelsea fan) and i are gonna try to get tickets for chelsea vs. fulham on the 29th. that will probably be sold out since fulham and chelsea hate each other, but we'll try anyway.

i've had 3 classes so far (intro to psych, the rise of modern europe, and intro to western art), and they've all been fascinating. our art class spent some time in the british museum just an hour ago, and we're planning to go to art gallerys (national gallery, tate modern among others) all over the city. and i don't have to do a whole lot of work in the classes, either (besides a lot of reading, but that's to be expected).

i have this afternoon free. i'm gonna go grab some lunch with friends, maybe do some shopping on tottenham court road, explore more of the british museum, do some grocery shopping, or just walk along the thames with my camera. the possibilities are endless.

i'm having a great time.
