i'm gonna be in a movie

a fucking bollywood movie of all movies too...weird, right?

so, i found this call for extras on craigslist.com, searching new haven, connecticut, where i came to stay with my friend eric monday night. and ended up going to the new haven train station where the email reply i got claimed there was going to be a movie filmed, despite no one apparently knowing about it, halfway thinking that it was some weird candid camera-ish prank or something, but it turned out it was actually legit, and today wrapped up my second day, going on at least a 3rd tomorrow, possibly a week, of being one of about 50-60 "background people" on an indian film set tentatively for release in april (not sure if that's here then also, yet) called Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, which apparently means "never say goodbye."
can't find too much about it online, but the 2 apparently gigantic stars in the bollywood world, (judging from the greatly-increasing mobs of hindus outside the train station each day and the sheer numbers of film credits they have) which i'm working "with"/around every day now are:

Rani Mukerji

and
Shah Rukh Kahn

this is a picture from i guess the other recent filming in ny last month that gives a better look of how they looked today. dunno who the middle guy is...

sorry if that makes me look like a starstruck dork to some, but...the past few days have been really exciting and new and fun, and...it makes me feel uncomfortable to not know who these people are because they're from a culture and film industry i'm unfamiliar with, when i'm being a part of their movie, and they apparently are like...what brad pitt and scarlett johansen, etc would be like to americans. it's kinda overwhelming just knowing i'm going to be a part of something that will be that big to some people. there are dozens of indian girls peeking through the doors of the train station all day that scream if they get a glimpse of this guy, it's crazy!

the hours are exhausting, yesterday 10 1/2, today 12, and mostly just sitting around waiting, but it's pretty chaotic when we are actually shooting, and a pain in the ass with 50 people who can't seem to remember which way theyre supposed to walk for the shot, but...

i'm supposed to be getting payed 75 bucks a day, possibly more for the time over 10 hours, and can eat all the snacks and peanut butter sandwhiches and shit i want all day long, AND...
i get free indian food for lunch, which most of the uncultured fucks snub their noses at for free subway and doritos and shit, which has been amazing. and just to be a part of it is awesome...even if i wasn't getting money too it's still worth it to me...

when i actually get a check next week i'll be fuckign ecstatic, and ready to finally start my "real" journey out into these adventure-filled lands, alone and eager for random shit like this to tell stories about to my kids someday, or at least to write home to my grandmother.

and frankly, for the amount of shots i've been in, like half right in fron tof the camera....in focus or not, i think it would seem impossible not to see me in this movie...and i'm still gonna be shot in more tomorrow, so....

everyone better fucking look for it when it comes out, to play spot paul's elbow, etc!
