Dreams
...that was the title to the Wacom Competition featured on Deviant art...so Scott suggested i enter with a chibi me dreaming of a Wacom Intuos4 tablet (that is the prize for winning)...i have been drawing alot of my chibi style drawings lately and really enjoying them so...why not :D
I looked over a few of the entries that had been submitted already...and not to say they were terrible but none of them really stood out...tho this was the early stages of the competition so not many entries were on show...a few of them to me didn't even suggest 'Dreams'...like an elf face with tattoos over it or a tree wearing red converse...haha funny...they are still amazingly well created but just don't convey the topic to me...i also didn't see any entries with a similar style to mine so this really helped in convincing me to enter...even if i expected a lot of the soon to be submitted entries to be amazingly awesome...
I was supposed to start the piece over the weekend just past...but Christmas shopping with my awesome little brother's and basically being lazy...i didn't really start until Monday...so i sat in my comfy red chair with my blanket, chocy, pen tablet and sketched furiously...all the while Scott was keeping me well watered with yummy Scotty tea (he makes the best...yes BEST tea EVAR!).
I had an image of what i wanted in my head...me, head on a pillow and butt in the air surrounded by my arty things and snoring away with a dream bubble of the Intuos4 tablet...took me forever to get the beginnings of the drawing down though...
Once the rough was done though it was onto the lineart...using variation in line thickness and smoothing all the edges is time consumming but most definately worth it :D
YAY the hardest part is over! and the colouring begins...i put down all the base colours first to make sure they would compliment one another and not clash too badly :P tho naturally there is quite a bit of pink...
oooh colour is pretty :) and then it was onto adding the shadows and highlights to make the image just that much more cute and shiny! and here is the finished piece (we weren't allowed to put any signiture or logo onto it so my "weebird20" is missing...
Oh yeah the submission date was December 8th at 11.59pm which i think was american time cus i really had until 7am this morning (wednesday 9th)...i was still adding shadows and highlights at 2.30am this morning...so i got to bed around 3am and was back up again at 7am for work :P but i got it finished and submitted and im all happy :D though some of the other entries are amazingly AMAZING! http://browse.deviantart.com/contests/2009/wacomdreams/#order=5&offset=96 thats the link if your interested in checking them out....though i should warn you...there are LOADS and you wont wanna stop looking...hehe...
