procrastinator's trip report

Sep 01, 2011 11:52

If you are in a hurry, let me sum up this trip for you: We went to Japan. We shopped. Then we were done shopping. We flew home. The end.

If you have some time to kill (mangaroo dubbed me official trip chronicler, so this is going to be VERY VERY LONG), let me invite you to share all the details of our lovely journey into the world of shopping. ( Japan! Japan! Japan! )

foldy-paper-drawing game (that needs a name)

1) WEEP. (I told you I would weep!)
2) It HAS a name. The name the inventors gave it. D:

I'm still trying to get thru this entry. more comments tomorrow. Or next year.

Oh, oops, I honestly had forgotten that it has a name, and "foldy-paper-drawing game" is what mangaroo was calling it, and...it's kind of catchy? Fixed now!

lol, it's a really long report! Take your time.

Ugh, and now I forgot all my comments by the time I can finally come back ... do I have to read the whole thing again?! >_>

(Oh, except that buying a back-up shirt is totally normal (what? who doesn't do that?) and I'm glad you found your suitcase in the end, because that has been me before, and it's scary enough without the porn!!)

Yay pictures! Sounds like an awesome time (and your shelves look much much happier now^^)

Wait, there's a restaurant named Shakey's? Now I must go there^^ (someday, I really will go to Japan, someday)

Hey, you don't even need to go to Japan, there's a Shakey's in the US! (At least, I assume it's the same; the Japanese logo looks a little different.)

But going to Japan is fun, I highly recommend it!

I didn't see much point in rushing out for 10 minutes of shopping

Sacrilege! But now I understand better why you didn't join us. I was surprised at the time.

Madoka Nendoroid...later still I realized it wasn't officially released yet, hence the outrageous pricing, and would be able to order it from home for a less outrageous price

Hey, this is the first I've heard this good news. Yay!

How many couples can you slash in this picture?

Four. Did we come up with anyone for the old geezer in the upper left, or was he part of a love triangle with the university student (magenta shirt) and businessman (light blue suit)?

We had to wait for like 20 minutes to get on?

And you had the opportunity to look at the really bad art for the first time.

am I going to have to start watching Giant Killing? It is my considered opinion that she should just do Tiger & Bunny, instead. Also, your Comiket digression was much appreciated. You should set up a Comiket tour group some time, showing people how to plan in advance of the catalog by haunting ( ... )

it was night when I got there, but just go with it, OK?

Also, for the first 4 or 5 days, the animate sign was missing its N. You took that picture waaaay late in the trip, missy.

You caught me! It was only a couple days before we left, I think.

Huh, I honestly don't remember the geezer being part of anyone's story. The only "triangle" I remember was the boy who was jealous of the girl talking to the station attendant.

You should set up a Comiket tour group some time

Or I should go work for Pop Japan Tours. They were hiring a while back, and the only thing that kept me from applying was wondering what I'd do with my cats if I got a job with frequent travel. Sort of regretting that now. But...my kitties. :(

I futzed up the subs on yours

You didn't, though! Didn't I say that in an e-mail to you? The subs were there, they just had to be turned on.

I hope they announce a U.S. DVD release soon.

If they don't, I'll be forced to buy the Japanese DVDs and I will be soooo broke. :(

He's not as mean as you think. This was the most important part, though! And pimping with a few choice words is sometimes ( ... )

I pretty much consider first-night shopping a necessity as well as an honored tradition. Unless we have plans like Urayasu sightseeing or Comiket lined up for the next day, we're going to be hanging around the hotel room until the stores open at 11am. When jetlag has you waking up at 4am, that's a looooong time to be bookless. It would be different if I could count on organized social activities, like 8-10am: foldy-paper-drawing game. But we're all dancing to our own drums in the a.m.

Oi, oi! I do not like my game's history to be written over, especially if I am not involved! :( It has a name, even if everyone else thinks it sucks. :(

I don't see anything wrong with first night shopping. Or rather, first night activity.... in this case, shopping.

Get involved! I didn't know the name until W_10_00 corrected it, but if it's the Drawing-Writing Game, I am confused that Drawing comes before Writing in the name, while Writing comes before Drawing in the game.

(Also, I feel like folding is a crucial element of gameplay.)
