procrastinator's trip report

If you are in a hurry, let me sum up this trip for you: We went to Japan. We shopped. Then we were done shopping. We flew home. The end.

If you have some time to kill (mangaroo dubbed me official trip chronicler, so this is going to be VERY VERY LONG), let me invite you to share all the details of our lovely journey into the world of shopping. ( Japan! Japan! Japan! )

Did we come up with anyone for the old geezer in the upper left, or was he part of a love triangle with the university student (magenta shirt) and businessman (light blue suit)?

Huh, I honestly don't remember the geezer being part of anyone's story. The only "triangle" I remember was the boy who was jealous of the girl talking to the station attendant.

You should set up a Comiket tour group some time

Or I should go work for Pop Japan Tours. They were hiring a while back, and the only thing that kept me from applying was wondering what I'd do with my cats if I got a job with frequent travel. Sort of regretting that now. But...my kitties. :(

I futzed up the subs on yours

You didn't, though! Didn't I say that in an e-mail to you? The subs were there, they just had to be turned on.

I hope they announce a U.S. DVD release soon.

If they don't, I'll be forced to buy the Japanese DVDs and I will be soooo broke. :(

He's not as mean as you think.

This was the most important part, though! And pimping with a few choice words is sometimes the best way.

I am relieved that my tension while I was packing and re-packing (apparently) didn't make you and s_vamp uncomfortable.

It did not! To be honest, it made me feel a little less incompetent with my packing, since s_vamp was SO fast with her packing. She's got some sort of ninja packing skills, I don't know.

I think this trip was also a good lesson in how the best-laid plans can go awry re: plans to fly out and back with companions.

Yeah, next time I'm just going to use FF miles and upgrade my ticket to business class.

Totally agreed on the beds. I'm considering bringing a mattress pad with me next time (to be left behind, of course). Also agreed on the fruits and veggies. (I was much happier once I found the tofu noodles and block of tofu--not veggies, of course, but light and refreshing enough to satisfy me--but I doubt those will be around in the winter.)

Or I should go work for Pop Japan Tours.

I just checked their web site: they cancelled all of their tours for 2011 after the earthquake/tsunami, which probably meant laying off most of their staff for the duration, so I don't think there's anything to regret there. Plus, I don't see that any of their pre-packaged tours visit Comiket. I wonder if they couldn't strike a deal with Comiket's organizers? But I wonder why one would need to, just to attend the event.

Also, I got a package in the mail today. I had no idea that the last half of the Biblos edition of Close the Door 2 was the first half of No One Loves Me! I was all...do they have the wrong jacket on this book? No, there's Honda!

p.s. Thank you.
