Good thing I'm not claustrophobic

There is So. Much. CRAP in the scene shop!

We still have the past two sets' worth of flats, platforms, lumber, and assorted debris taking up every available corner of the shop where it's been shoved to make room for all the steel and lumber for this show. Any floor space that's left is being used to hold all the currently built and in-progress set pieces. We occupy several thousand square feet of warehouse space, and the only empty floor space available right now is pretty much that which the law requires in case there's a fire and we have to get out. Maddening doesn't even begin to cover it.

The parquet (here) is about 3/4 done, but it needs to stay on the paint deck at least until I can get it sealed. If I'm very, very lucky, that will be tomorrow evening sometime. I'm more expecting it to be Thursday evening. If, that is, the staff meeting downtown in the morning doesn't end up eating more than half my day.

I've started cleaning the steel wall pieces (that take up about 800 square feet of space) so I can get them primed and painted, but the floor has to move before I can do anything except clean them. Or, I suppose I could try laying masking paper over the floor rather than moving it, but then I risk getting overspray on the floor pieces. rrrgh. "House that Jack Built" syndrome, hooray.

It's bad enough being short on time; being short on space as well is just salt in the wound at this point.

*sigh*

It'll get done; they always do because they have to. We're just all going to be a bit cranky about it.

work, rants
