Progress Post: 6 months and 4 days to go

Intro post here.

Previous progress post here.

I feel like I wasn't progressing at all and it feels like within the last month, we got a ton of stuff done.

I never actually posted a link to my dress! I bought it on Mother's Day (and yes, my mom was there). I was originally trying to find a slightly cheaper dress, but this is the one that I had been in love with since first trying it on in November, and they threw in a free alteration. I'm having the neckline made into a sweetheart neckline.

Our color scheme is Kentucky blue and black. I mostly picked black because I was having a hard time trying to find a color that went well with that shade of blue that was widely available. I think everyone will look fantastic.

My friend in Philly agreed to be a bridesmaid. My maid of honor agreed to try on some bridesmaid dresses to get an idea of what would look good and what wouldn't, since I'm not the most fashionable bride ever. About a week or two later, MOH and my bridesmaid in Philly were out shopping (separately) and found dresses they love. My MOH will be wearing this dress and my two bridesmaids will be wearing this dress with a blue belt. They still have to figure out where to buy the belts from.

We booked our officiant. (Wow, that feels like forever ago.) He's a former priest who left the priesthood to get married, but he's licensed to perform weddings in our state, and we instantly clicked with him and his wife when we met them.

We opted not to go with our friend for wedding photography, as we had found a local photographer to who was less money. We were very impressed with her work, and wedding photography is not her full-time job, which is why she didn't cost as much. But, she is very prompt about putting up photos on her Facebook photography page, all of which look amazing. I am a little worried now, though, because it's been about a week and a half since we mailed her our deposit and I haven't seen the check clear, nor have we gotten back our copy of the contract yet. I'm very eager to have our engagement photos done, but I don't want to do them until we get our contract back. I'm trying to be patient, especially since I can be pretty forgetful in bringing checks to the bank, but I just want to get our engagement photos done already! Saturday will be six months to the wedding date.

We also booked our DJ and we got a really good deal on a photo booth with them, so we decided to splurge a little on that.

We met with a potential videographer over the weekend. We really like his work. His videos were the only ones that just absolutely blew me away. I'm pretty sure we're going to book him soon. He's more than we wanted to pay for a videographer, but videography got bumped up in the list of priorities because I found out that my grandfather won't be able to attend our wedding. I wanted to have a really nice video to send him so he doesn't feel like he missed anything.

I'm going to go shopping with my mom on Saturday for her dress.

Soon we will be looking at cake, and I will be contacting folks about flowers. We still have to decide on our invitations. Our save the dates were black with white lettering, but I think the matching invitations would be way too formal for our 10 am wedding. Then it's just all the little detail items as our wedding comes together. I had a stretch for a long time where wedding planning wasn't fun, but now the stress is fading and I'm excited again and no longer going "Can't we just elope in Vegas?"

Edit: Looks like the designer's website took down the picture of my dress. Admittedly, it was an older line. Here's hoping the new link stays up a little longer!
