In FIVE days I will be a married woman! O-M-G!!!! What's wrong with us?! Haha!
EVERYTHING is done! In all, I am surprised we have been able to do the wedding so cheaply. Well it was more than I thought but it still isn't half bad.
Favors:
At each table setting, there will be an L-O-V-E coaster with a wine glass setting atop it. Tucked inside it will be a silver organza bag filled with Reese's miniatures and a navy blue favor tag with our names and the date on it. There will be a pop up notecard that his mom made for us at each setting, to remind guests that the coasters and such are for them to keep.
Food:
We opted for a 3 PM reception so we won't be killed with budgeting a full meal. We will have chicken tender bites with accompanying sauces, pepperoni rolls, stuffed mushrooms, a sandwich platter, pasta salad, veggie tray, and a fruit tray. We'll have a few gallons of unsweeteened iced tea and unlimited soda/water. Fortunately, we did hire a server for about 2 hours who will make sure everything stays tidy and such. Chris and I will go to Sam's on Friday and I think I might pick up a few dessert bites platters.
Attire:
- I am wearing a simple taffeta gown from David's Bridal (in ivory). I am glad I chose taffeta because I could not imagine lugging around a satin or likewise dress! I seriously don't know how women can have outdoor summer weddings in all the wedding garb! I also bought a freshwater pearl necklace and freshwater pearl drop earrings. I decided to get "real" jewelry instead of just buying costume jewelry that won't really last. I didn't spend much more on my jewelry than I would have, if I opted to go the "cheaper" route.
- My fiance: we bought a suit for him since he should have one for job interviews and the like anyway. Well, we got a killer deal on two suits so he got two of them. He will wear a dark charcoal suit with a medium gray shirt and silver tie. He also picked out a pair of patent leather dress shoes. He tried on everything and really liked it!
- My sister: a royal/navy blue and black dress. It's tea length and while I know that black is hardly appropriate for weddings, it's beautiful on her. As soon as she tried it one, I was like - OMG! that's it! I did get 20% knocked off of it because of a very minor flaw on it. I never did see anything at David's Bridal or the traditional bridesmaid dresses that I really liked. Also, she can easily wear the dress again. We also ordered her shoes, this weekend.
- My niece: I originally did not want a flower girl/ring bearer because my sister is just not all that reliable when it involves many people. Okay, she's flaky. However, I scored an excellent deal on an ivory flower girl dress at JCPenney. It is like the ones from David's Bridal but less than 1/3 the price. I found her shoes at Michaels, too.
- The best man: not really sure on this one as we told him to wear whatever he has since we didn't want to put an unnecessary expense on him. He has a good selection of semi-formal wear, so I am sure we are good on that one.
Flowers:
When we met with the florist, I had no clue what I wanted. I just knew the flowers should be blue and white. When Chris and I flipped through their book, we both decided on blue hydrangeas. While they aren't exactly navy, I don't care! So my bouquet will be white roses & blue hydrangeas. My sister's bouquet will be white hydrangeas with blue delphiniums. We ordered a sweetheart rose corsage for his mom. My niece will carry one single rose down the aisle. I just didn't want to have to worry about cleaning up rose petals or what have you.
Centerpieces:
Each table will have white linens with navy blue satin runners. The centerpiece will be a silver charger, a candle votive, and vase rocks in varying shades of blue and clear. I will probably sprinkle some rose petals on the runners.
Cake:
A three tier strawberry cake with buttercream frosting, covered in white marshmallow fondant, dotted with pearls, and a navy blue ribbon on each tier. I know strawberry is not exactly traditional but I don't care! Haha! I wanted something with some flavor and I love strawberry cake...so there ya go!
Honeymoon:
A cabin in WV!!!! We will be staying there for 3 nights! Well, Saturday, we will stay at a local hotel and drive down to the cabin, Sunday morning.
Other stuff we have taken care of:
A personalized cake serving set, guest book, bubbles for when we leave, wine glasses (my dad is in charge of getting the wine), napkins, coloring books/crayons for the kids, an engraved book marker for Chris' sister-in-law, wedding cake topper, toss bouquet. We still need to add a bit more music to the ipod and transfer the stuff E* gave me.
I can't help but think I am forgetting something! What were some of your last minute things? Did you forget anything? If so, what? Any last minute advice?
