UGH I went to my first bridal shop today just to look around. It was one of the best places in my area and I wanted to see what the prices of what they had ran. I was very happy to see that they were all under 3000. I was very unhappy to learn that while most of their dresses come in a plus size they do not carry many plus sized samples. I can't imagine buying a dress without trying it on. I saw a dress online last night that I really liked. I saw it on several sites, actually, but I dismissed it because I would have to find a store who sold that designer since I didn't want to buy without trying it on. Well now I can't stop thinking about that dress. If the best bridal shop in my area doesn't have many samples that fit me I'd rather buy the cheaper dress I saw online. The problem is now I can't find it! It's driving me crazy. I feel like I'm going to have to settle for something similar because I have no idea where I saw it. I am still hoping to find a store with in a few hours of here who actually carries a full array of plus sized dresses or find one I like in the store I wen to today, but if I have to buy without trying it on, I want that dress! I think it's really bugging me because they told me at the shop that I was actually not shopping too early since it can take 8 months for a dress to get to the shop and a few more months for alterations. How soon did you guys start dress shopping?
Edit: someone suggested I describe it to you. I found a similar dress to it online here:
http://www.ellaparkbridal.com/Lo-Ve-La-Bridal-Gown-Style-8281-p/1-218-9004.htm the one I liked was pleated like that, but the top had regular straps (they were fairly thin, but not spaghetti straps) it may have been a halter top, I didn't look at the back, it was V neck and pretty low cut. It had jewels or some sort of bling right under the breast, before the dress flared out. And I believe the price on the site I saw it on was 550 or 560, somewhere around there. I like the one in the photo above, but I really liked the other one better.
