FH and I set the date in May, but because of work-related stress issues followed by unemployment, I didn't want to set any venues or vendors in stone because I wasn't sure how long I'd be unemployed. Well, I started a job at JCPenney at the beginning of November, and I am back in wedding-planning mode, baby!
Just to recap, our date is Sunday, September 25, 2011. I had progress posts from awhile ago, but all of my files were lost! Most of it was stationary stuff, which I re-did this past week.
After looking at four reception venues, FH and I picked one. The party will take place at Pinecrest Country Club:
The country club will provide a plated dinner for our guests (we're capping the list at 100), 2 cold hors d'oeuvres, 2 hot hors d'oeuvres, tea, coffee, punch, and soda, plus linens, champagne glasses, and cake cutting for $2200! The site fee is another $275, and just reserving the room gets us tons of choices of decorations. I'm so excited about it because it's just within our budget.
We have yet to choose a ceremony site, but we know we want it to be outdoors. We're leaning towards having an outdoor ceremony at Cook Forest State Park.
Our favors will be 4-ounce jars of homemade jam. I'm asking for the jars for Christmas from my mom (she *insists* that I tell her what I want every year, lol); and I got a label template on Microsoft Office's website.
The jars will be on a table in the entranceway with a sign telling guests to take the flavor they would like.
The place cards will be arranged next to the jams. (Another Microsoft Office template that I modified; I added the moon clip art, lol)
I also created the menus; there will be one per table, and will stand on their own once folded in half. I loved FH's reaction when he saw them: "Umm, honey, why are the trees upside-down?"
I have white number stickers lying around, and I'm going to put them on the trees for the table number.
In a recent post, I showed that I ordered my wedding shoes from Zappos (
http://www.zappos.com/rocket-dog-memories-blueberry-glowing-satin). They arrived today and they fit perfectly! Sorry to anyone who wants them in a size 8, because I bought the last pair. =P
Our STDs will be sent out in late January. I'm going to change the brightness settings when I get them printed, and my MoH (who is an awesome graphic designer and made these for us) is going to add our wedding website. I'm going to work with her over the next couple months to make our invites and response cards coordinate with the STDs.
I think that's it for now. I'm so excited that this is FINALLY getting started!
