We're planning an early evening reception for about 100 people and we're doing all of the catering ourselves. We're going to have a wide variety of filling appetizers, a taco bar or baked potato bar (we can't decide), and some soups instead of a full sit down meal. I'm adding up the amounts right now and it's coming out to be a lot higher than I expected, about $1000. This does include wine and the cost to make our homebrew which will run right around $150 for three pony kegs (Any other homebrewers doing your own beer for the wedding?) So for those of you who are doing your own food, how much are your budgeting and how many people are you expecting?
Our menu goes something like this:
Bread
Cheese and cracker tray
Fruit Tray
Veggie Tray
Layered salad
Pasta Salad
Deviled eggs
Shrimp Cocktail
2 flavors of meatballs
Chicken fingers
Lavash Rolls
Sausage Rolls
Chili
Tortilla soup
Taco bar
Also, for people who are not using a caterer, how are you going to go about getting the dishes cleaned up? Will you just have people put their dirty dishes somewhere and have them cleaned later or are you hiring someone to clean up? Or are you using disposable plates and utensils?
