Public Parks!

Hey all. :) This is my first non-intro post. (eek!) My intro post is here, if anybody's interested in a recap.

I haven't been having much luck finding a venue that we actually really like - that fits our budget, that's pretty, that we can self-cater, that fits us as a couple, that isn't too far north, that isn't too far south, that will let us decorate the way we want to decorate, etc, etc, etc. (We're being picky, I realize. XD) But Plan B has always been the park near where I lived in early childhood - Abrams Park in Ridgefield, WA, if anybody has a clue where that is - and after talking to some more people about it, it's looking more and more like Plan A, for quite a few reasons.

It's a large green park surrounded by hills and forest, with a creek running through it, and about half a mile from the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, so there's a ton of natural beauty. It has an enormous 40+ years old all wood play structure that's separated slightly from the rest of the park. The place where we'd have the reception is a large enclosed (locked when not in use, with window shades that can be opened/closed and secured) picnic shelter that has a prep kitchen - with a fridge, freezer, and stoves - and has a large outdoor terrace area with barbecues. There's also the nostalgia factor - I'd be lying if I said that wasn't part of the allure! :)

So my question is: are there any wedding planners out there planning a wedding at a public park? Or married folks who had one at public park already? I'm interested in hearing about your experiences! :)
