I am 1 year and 5 days away from getting married. I will not do a progress post however because there is not much to report, unfortunately.
I have made a top priority to-do list for the following weeks. So, to do, in the following order:
1. Find a venue.
2. Find a caterer if not included in venue.
3. Confirm with officiant if available for our date.
4. Ask our padrinhos.*
5. Find a photographer.
*My FH is Brazilian. In Brazil, the attendants are called padrinhos, which means "godparents". They basically are the same thing, except that they don't have a rank (no maid of honor and bridemaids, for instance) and they are always in couple. If you ask someone who is married, you have to ask the spouse also. If the person is single, than you have to match him or her with another single person. Also, they usually aren't dressed alike.
1. If you are getting married with someone from another culture, are there any traditions from that culture that you intend to add to your wedding? Do you plan to underline your multiculturality at your wedding and if so, how?
2. Is anyone having their reception in a restaurant with a private room? If so, how does that work? Are you making a custom menu for your guest or do they just pick things from the regular menu?
3. If you are having the ceremony and reception in the same room, how do you plan to make the switch between settings? Do you send everyone outside while some of your friends set tables?
4. This is my dress:
http://community.livejournal.com/weddingplans/16962699.htmlIt is vintage from the 40s. What kind of shoes should I wear with that? I really want something that would match the style of the dress and vintage looking. I never wear heels and I don't plan to start on my wedding day. I'm fine with a 1 inch, maybe 1.5 inch) heel max. And I don't intend to buy them on the internet, so I'm just looking for inspiration pictures.
Also, any idea as to what my fiance could wear that would match the style? We don't want it to be too formal, he wasn't intending to wear a tux. But we would like to look like an assorted couple. I'm thinking a hat would be awesome.
Thank you all!
