Wedding Week: May 2nd 5:30pm Wedding (NO)Va

So... everything is starting to come into place. I wish I had photos to share, but I'll just try and tell you what my house looks like- wedding explosion.

We've got a 2 story house with a walk out basement. FI gets to paint the baseboard and putty fill a bunch of holes in the basement. It's pretty empty, so we're:

- planning to drape burgundy tulle from the ceiling
- the food will be set up in there
- a table for gifts will be set up
- a table for the wish bowl (and some engagement photos) will be by the double walk out doors

We've got to move the 3 benches out of there to somewhere in the backyard.

We've got a table of castle models- about 7.5 inches high, that hold candles, that we painted charcoal- with silver dry brushed over, and green window frames, and brown stone. Some friends came and helped us paint all 10 of them on Sunday. really wish I had photos to show you.

My FI in the past week or so, has rebuilt our gate, (because it was too poorly constructed to fix) and built a rail that goes on the stairs from the top deck to the walk out basement patio (both with his dad's help_

In case of rain, we'll hang a tarp over the small patio at the walk out portion, and set the two tents side by side, next to that, so no one will have to get wet. But currently, the weather looks nice + chance of thunderstorms. It's VA in the spring/summer. That usually means 15-40 minute storm with heavy winds and the rest is clear. If it looks fine, the tents will be much further back, on the two, more flat, less wet spots in the yard. And the ceremony will take place on the lower deck, with the chairs fanned out for a good view, in front of the tents. There will probably be a path/aisle made from the luminaries and a table with sweet tea near the gate for when guests arrive. We'll have a basket with the programs and a candle with a protective cup on each chair.

We've got a window in the loft that looks over the living room. And tulle is drapped out from the floor on the second story, up through the window and down to the first story floor- to get the creases out.

For the programs, all we have to do is pick them up at Kinko's. It was $26 to have them all printed, and only $10 to get them folded and save us the effort. And my FI printed the castle picture/descriptions for the tables.

We ordered the rehearsal dinner for 6:30 delivery to our house on Friday night.

Left to do is to fill the luminaries, mow the lawn, and the prior day set up. We'll be draping lights and tulle around the edge of the base, and pinning burgundy ribbon around the edge of the luminaries. We'll clear the deck, set up the speakers and the tents. Set up a table to use as an altar- with a black table cloth and a tall candle in a hurricane vase. And some more indoor cleaning. And, of course, run the rehearsal and stress about the weather.

Edit I still have to change 2 escort cards. And we picked up a cheap box of mini-binder clips that are just short enough to be the height of the escort/place cards. They add just enough weight that we're not scared that they'll blow off the table- unless the tent is going to blow over. I wrote everyone's use-name on the front and the name of their castle/table on the inside.

I'm actually trying to let myself get excited. When we bought the house, I was so carried away with the to-do list that the full impact of the event never really hit, and the house buying ended up feeling very anti-climatic.
