Two-piece vs one?

Hey all! Ok so I recently realized that my wedding dress is a two-piece (see it here, Maggie Sottero's "Lana"). I never tried it on before I ordered it (it'll be here in June!), never even saw it in person, so I guess this is what I get for not noticing that tiny detail in the description! So I'm wondering what are the pros and cons of a two-piece ( Read more... )

Ive had a two piece bridesmaid dress. what they did, was they actually sewed it together to make it a one iece. Do you think that would be an option?

Actually, it'd be pretty cool to keep it as a two-piece, because then if you want to change into something a little less floofy for the reception/getaway, you can always just get a nice skirt to go with the top you've already got.

Also, easier to remove, and y'know, go to the bathroom by yourself. ^_-

If you do that, it might be a good idea to sew some hook and eyes to attach it. that way they'll be held together when you're wearing them, so if you put your arms up, the top won't rise up and show off your belly. it's super easy

Also, the individual pieces may be more wearable in the future, if that is something you're considering. The top half might be cute with even jeans and a jacket...

i dont think you should have any concerns. the first dress i fell in love with was a two-piece. sadly, it was discontinued though so they couldnt get the top in my size, though the skirt fit perfectly. they offered me a discount and to turn the back into a corset style to fit, but i wanted buttons.

My dress was a two piece and I really liked it. The top was a corset which allowed me greater freedom in fitting. I originally shied away from the idea of a two piece but after I tried it on I didn't think twice about it. I liked the two piece because I felt it was able to fit me better through all areas. This was mostly due to it being a corset top rather than it two piece. My dress was heavy at the bottom so having a separate skirt didn't make me feel like my dress was dragging. So I guess in the end it is still up to the individual dress, but having something be two piece is no reason to stay away from it.
