That's sweet that your parents have been together for 21 years - but out of curiousity, why did they decide to get married now?

See, this is where it gets weird (at least to me).

They are legally married, but they were never married in the church and now that they're being 'real' catholics (and my dad is converting) they need to stop 'living in sin' and get married in the church. My dad has had to get his old marriage annulled and everything. Very silly, but I guess this is the 'real' wedding my mom wanted since she got married in her apt the first time after about 2 weeks of planning.

It's strange being 20 and saying, "oh my mom and dad are getting married."

It's just legal v. religous I suppose. But now I'm going to be there and I think people expect me to figure things out. :)

As for dresses, I think a bright color (kelly green, bright purple, watermelon pink) in a "summery" cut would be really cute! There are lots of fun sundresses out there that may be a blast for the theme without looking like you stole an outfit from a hula dancer.

I like that idea, right now a possibility is something in a lilac/light purple/lavender color. My mom has a deep purple dress that she is going to wear.

I'm not sure where I'm going to find a nice dress because I have trouble finding things that fit me. But, I'm sure this community will be helpful.

a nice soft yellow would look nice against a deep purple, without looking too easter-y.

I didn't go creep your LJ so I don't know what the problem may be. colorwhirl February 17 2009, 19:07:20 UTC
If the issue is finding a plus size dress (my love to the fat chicks, being one myself), Alfred Angelo's bm dresses to up to 28.

If the issue is weird sizing (say, you're an 8 on top and a 12 on the bottom), you can always go to a bridal salon, find a dress that fits in one place, and get it altered. Alterations are genius. I'm a huge fan of having my clothes tailored to fit, if only because I feel so much better about my body when my clothes fit.

If the issue is length or covering a particular body part, most collections of dresses (think David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo) have a variety of things to cover a variety of body parts including legs, arms, ankles, or back weirdness including scars or whathaveyou.
