Hello again. I'm full of questions today.

Feb 03, 2008 11:53

Please help, I'm trying to get stuff decided before I have a frenzy of wedding related stuff to do next weekend.

Where is a good place to look for dress shirts for guys that will go with Alfred Angelo's Blue Jay color? Or should we have the Groomsman, Best Man, and Bridesman wear silver shirts and blue ties?
More details on this question )

So I was thinking of doing wildflower seeds as favors. This site here actually has them already packaged and if you buy bulk it's $1.25 a piece.

That may be a little high, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

it is $20 per lbs to buy wild flower seeds from wildseeds farm. you could then either buy cute envelopes form hobby lobby and stamp then (probably less than $20) or save all of the scrap paper from ork and school and make plantable thank you cards or place settings. if you are very enterprising you can use candy molds and then poke a hole in them and make a little raffia loop. the las can be done in one day, or you could spend like 30 min before bed each nite miking a batch of paper and squishing it into the mold. in the morning they are done! (equipment for the molds one is simply water, scrap non magazine paper, molds, and a blender) they look pretty and you are effectivly plannting your love and helping it grow! each mols will have lsee than a tablespoon of flowers! (so you could just buy a 1/4 to 1/2 lbs, or buy th e whold lbs and plant the extra in your yard!)

hmm, I thought I saw that recipe elsewhere, (maybe in diy_weddings?) and it said I needed some cotton linter or some such. If I don't really need that, then maybe I should look into doing that.

I'll look into the envelope thing too. Maybe instead of stamping it, I could print labels to go with the invitation design or something.

For favors you could do seed packets of your favorite types of flowers and put your names and the date on them -- super cheap and garden-ish. Otherwise try looking around on different sites, doing a search for "garden wedding favors" etc.

For a veil, I'd suggest looking on ebay. I bought mine, which is a waltz-length two-tiered veil with pencil edging and pearl and crystals embedded in it, for about $35 with shipping. I used "bellabridalveils" and had a great experience with them, and I heard about them from someone else in this community not too long ago.

I think silver shirts with blue ties would be lovely! Blue shirts and dresses might be a bit blue-overload. But silver shirts could be very sharp.

I'm not a fan of classic bride/groom cake toppers either. Have you looked into birds? We bought an Ann Wood bird cake topper (www.annwoodhandmade.com) but there are plenty of other bird toppers out there. Could be lovely for a garden wedding.
I especially love these ones, they were my second choice: http://www.weddingdetails.com/shop/product.php?p=019521&c=009342

That cake topper is so cute. Looking at the site though, I think I like this one too because we could put one of our engagement pictures in it. (which were taken in a garden) I'll ask my fiancé and see what he thinks.

Thank you!

I got my veil at Veils by Lana on Ebay and LOVE IT. There was a huge selection. Mine is a little bit fancier than what you want...two-tiered with bead and crystal flowers on it...but it was still under $30 including shipping. It also came really quickly.
