Yes, it's been a while. There's been little time for reflection.
I have an interview tomorrow for what sounds like a fairly lucrative tutoring position. I'm a bit skeptical, what with the interview/training being on a Sunday afternoon in the loop. We'll see. At worst I'll waste 3 hours.
I've been seeing a lady. I've been preoccupied, it's true.
Tonight I finally saw the Jem Cohen documentary on Fugazi. I've been meaning to watch it since it came out. I have mixed feelings on it. He shoots beautifully. Aesthetically it's gorgeous, the music is, well, Fugazi...so I like it a lot. The footage from the Red Medicine recording sessions is really cool. I just don't feel like it stands up very well as a film. I'm having a hard time hating on it because he's so dedicated to his process. He collects footage over DECADES and arranges it. I need to see his more recent stuff. Instrument DID serve as a nice little nostalgia trip, though. Fugazi played an important part in the development of my socio-political development, as I'm sure can be said by most if not all of my peers and it was cool to see interviews and performance footage.
Spent the night inside. What I expected to be a booze fueled mush fest actually turned out to be a rather productive evening. I prototyped a new t-shirt making process and I'm exceptionally happy with the results. progress:myth studio is up and running...buy something, please. DVD zine is in the works, as well as t-shirts, furniture, lamps, portable prayer temples...and this spring keep your eyes peeled for public space reclaimed for quiet introspection.
Peace.
