Dreadful unprecedented Flooding in the North of England

Where to start with these horrific floods? Thirsk was on High Alert but wasn't flooded, but multiple roads turned into lakes and rivers. The trouble with rural flooding is detours can be tens of miles and Those can also get flooded too. Bridges under, roads under. I have been lucky but the estate has had flooding in places never seen before. I've been here nearly 14 years.
Cumbria, those poor Bastards have been flooded Three times within days, flood defences overwhelmed.
York, poor York well under water. The pumps of the flood defences were overwhelmed and those in charge had to make the terrible decision to open the flood barriers... Therefore flooding another 2000-3600 homes who had been protected. The flooding is so bad that the phones went down, thus police, emergency services, the Councils emergency line all down. This had the knock on effect of knocking down mobile signal in Thirsk (already dire!), Bedale and Ripon - Ripon already under water in places. Radio York lost their every thing, and were crucial to residents for advice etc and ended up broadcasting from down in Radio Hull studios!
North Yorkshire Police ran out of Road Closed signs then lost the 101 phone number line. The emergency services have been fantastic and so have all the volunteers, Dartmoor Search and Rescue are at York, as are others. Prime Minister David Cameron visited York today where I assume most residents would like to just throw him in the river...
A pub was swept away in Manchester, Tadcaster horrifically hit, I think the saddest thing of their floods photos was the High Street, floods nearly up to the tops of the shop fronts yet the little Christmas trees over the doorways were still lit and reflecting beautifully in the flood waters. A Church was photographed at Tadcaster, it seemed to still be floodlit, yet the church yard and church was under serious water. Behind in the clouds a beautiful moon lit the sky and grounds.
Kirkstall at Leeds was heavily flooded too, a main road utterly under flood water. Other West Yorkshire, Hebden Bridge dreadfully hit, footage shows a small bus swept down the street in the floods .
Mytholmroyd dreadfully hit too, scary footage shows a Dramatic Car rescue there. This is shorter than the original video I saw, but this poor old guy was just minutes away from drowning poor guy. He must have been terrified and chilled to the bone :-( I've seen a lot of comments about idiots driving into 'rivers' but a car can be swept away in just 30cm of water. The guys who rescued him are absolute heroes and it's going on all over the place. That's a Land Rover in that water, tall vehicle that they had to cut the roof open.

Selby stoic flooded lands farmer,
Video report of a BBC reporter taking a boat ride down a residential street in York.Resilient residents wave to him. The water is down from the height it reached but it's still dreadfully deep.
Army deployed to help with floods
Worse still tornadoes are hitting America and we're expecting to get the gale force winds too, along with heavy rain, the last thing this flood drenched North of England needs.
Tornadoes hit USA, Eleven people are reported to have been killed in tornadoes in Texas, raising the death toll to 29 in a week of storms across several US states. So it doesn't bode well for here :-(

hidden heroes, in the news, floods
