Unsure - Moving House Stuff

This is really difficult, on top of everything else there's been a major house decision going on. Months ago we found a truly fantastic property, Grade 2 listed, seconds from town with a small barn for conversion in it's walled courtyard garden. At the time of getting the conversion costs my father doing the figures realised it wasn't possible. Shite, that was all of us in love with the house and opportunity, it was so beautiful and the Grade 2 listing wouldn't have caused a problem as the main cottage was listed not the barn. It was a few seconds walk from the market place at Bedale. The garden was stunning, so was the property, market place seconds one way, about four minutes walk the other was the parkland at the end of the town. Perfect. Unaffordable with £100,000 conversion costs though a slighly lower asking price. However we've just discovered too late that it was affordable just as my father had the figures wrong on several things. I was really mad at the time but what can I say? It went under offer, this week I thought it was back on the market but it wasn't, my mum & I were very disappointed.

Some while later my parents found another place, I've mentioned this one. It was just about ok, again, seconds walk from the market place hidden down a yard. The annexe here was lovely (though I only saw photos). It's major problem was a total lack of garden, even the concrete was open to the track at the front of the house. We worked out figures, it could've been turned into a beautiful courtyard garden. I could have made it work living there. It was ok, acceptable in a I can make this work type of way. Then my mother & I were relieved to discover that the whole area was undergoing severe regeneration and the house was extremely likely to be demolished or so heavily built up it was crushed. To make the annexe livable in a managing sort of way some £30,000 was needed, plus garden work to make a tiny garden section for each house though there would only have been room and only just for rotary washing line. I can't use a long line anymore & my rotary is adjustable height. This property was £60,000 more than the other one. Plus needed carpets & decorating throughout the main house. My bill for my property decor is mine. But demolision looms so out it went. Thankfully.

My parents found another place, a dormer bungalow. Considering all the extra hundreds of properties up for sale at the moment there have only been these three suitable for conversion, with current annexe or with room for building. This place is £25,000 more than the original one. Absolute minimum price build is £75,000 PLUS VAT. New build homes don't have VAT, as this would be a separate annexe it doesn't qualify even if it is unattached. Nor does it qualify for any Disabled Living Grants. Oh, but they'll generously let me have a bath and a stairlift. Gee, thanks government. Remembering that walk in baths are highly unsuitable for many disabled because of burn risk or loss of body temperature it's useless for me. Bastards. Every property whether conversion, existing annexe requiring adaptions, or new build is costing roughly the same. Bloody hell. That makes things tighter than a ducks arse.

Anyway, this place is located opposite the race course :-) With open fields to the front, open fields to the back, a couple of small factories almost touching the garden beside the fields. Beside it are two more bungalows, the other side a modern(ish) farm house. The garden is very large and lovely. I love the photos. It's on the road into town, a few minutes walk from the train station (useful for certain visitors ;-) ) but requiring a taxi to town half a mile away. Sadly I'm not able to walk that far which is a sodding shame to have come to that now. My parents have seen it twice. Preliminary planning permission has been given for me to have a dormer bungalow built as an annexe there. I would be rather private though would have a seriously difficult time leaving the property because of the layout of next doors drive against ours. My bloody stupid phobia of being seen would be terrible to get round there. As it's likely to be with 98% of town properties.

But it's not this phobia that's causing me to balk at this place. I mean it's ok to look at, nothing special, just ok.And that's ok said in a long drawn out way. The garden looks gorgeous & has several summerhouses :D Nice open location field wise, nice location town wise away from a certain type of mentality found in many towns, perfect for train station location, so what on earth is it that's wrong with it? I've been sat outside in cars now, once with Tilly, twice with my parents & I still can't put my finger on what's wrong. I even did the tarot but all it told me was trust your instincts. My instinct says no, but why? I know I should visit it myself round the property & garden but phobia wise I really can't.

It's kind of everything we need, the first place we knew we could all live in, the second I wasn't keen on but could see how to make it work, this one, well I can see all it has to offer but I cannot bring myself to say yes as my instinct is yelling no. Why??? Properties are desperately few and far between, this is stupid. Needless to say my father was not amused, my mother was a little relieved as although she likes the place too, there is something nagging her about it as well. Damnit.

Proper update another time, at the drs tomorrow for review. Had the Carer review yesterday as well. More another time.
