(no subject)
Grrr...Alex smash! Today I was going to upload my double-disc Ashkenazy/Harrell recording of Beethoven's Cello Sonatas to my computer & iPod, but I can't find it. I managed to torrent the Yo-Yo Ma/Emanuel Ax recording, but even though it's technically precise, it doesn't have the same bounce and energy that Harrell has always had. I wouldn't mind the Rostropovich or the DuPre/Barenboim one either, but...hmph. I miss it, especially Ashkenazy's accelerated arpeggios in the Allegro part of Op. 5 No. 1....and then the complementing trills in the cello and piano leading into the final run.
*sigh*
The midterm went well. I have reading to do, which I should have done earlier, but I cleaned all of the dishes in my apartment, which made me feel like I accomplished something today. Funny how I really don't feel like a student at all.
I'm going to go do some reading now. I'll just stay very calm and try to pretend that I really don't notice each and every little difference on this recording.
