Professor Hastings I need to talk to you.
Splinter, I'd like to speak to you too.

Please feel free, Knuckles. What is the matter?
Reply
I owe you an apology Professor. I... don't trust people easily, and when I first met you in the library I was not completely honest.
Reply
Is the omission something that is dangerous?
Reply
I should have warned you to stay away from him if he ever arrived here. [Too late for that now.] I'm sorry.
Reply
I have spoken to him now, yes. Unfortunately. That would not be the first time I have spoken to a dangerous person in this week. [... He has a bad track record for this.]
He seems fascinated by me, as a fellow scientist. Is it likely that this fascination is a dangerous one?
Reply
It's not? Are you okay?
I'm not sure. This Robotnik isn't exactly like the one from my world. [And Robert is human, but Knuckles isn't sure how much good that might do him.]
He probably thinks you're useful. Play along.
Have you told him you know me?
Reply
[Playing along... isn't easy for Robert, what with his bluntness. But he can certainly try.] He has told me that he is a roboticist and a scientist. He referenced an organization called "Gun", claiming his inventions surpassed the scientists of that organization. None of it is anything I am aware of.
I did not explicitly, but I did ask him how you and he were associated - I never got a response to that query.
Reply
That's mostly true. I don't know this "Gun", but his weapons usually do surpass his enemies. He prefers to over power his opponents.
[That's...not ideal, but not to bad.] We've called a truce, For now. He's more interested in getting back to his world than me. But try not to mention me too much.
Reply
So these are dangerous machines that he builds? [Well, crap. That wouldn't have been something Robert would have thought of on his own, but now that the possibility is there...] I may have to be careful that he does not get the idea to construct them here in Luceti.
I will certainly refrain, Knuckles. I do not wish to put you in danger. [Or anybody else, if he can help it.]
Reply
He would have thought it the moment he woke up, but the materials aren't here. Better idea would be keeping him focused on the Malnosso.
[If this was voice you might have heard a touch of amusement in his tone.] I was more worried about you Professor.
Reply
[It's a good idea to worry more about Robert than himself.] I appreciate the concern, Knuckles. I must confess - at the moment, worrying about me is rather understandable.
Reply
He can be convincing. But I've put him on the Villains list, that might make some think twice.
That's why some worlds have Guardians.
[Knuckles pauses before he starts writing again because [Knuckles doesn't really know how to reply to that last line.]
Just be careful. And try not to freeze up.
Reply
What exactly is a Guardian, if I may ask?
And I will do my utmost. [Which, for Robert, admittedly isn't much.]
Reply
[There's a pause and a few dots appear as Knuckles taps the page with the tip of his pen before - ]
I'm the Guardian of the Floating Island.
Reply
What's surprising is "floating island".]
Islands are capable of floating, in your world? Do you mean something like a detached landmass in an ocean?
[Surely it wouldn't be flying].
Reply
It can float in the ocean, but I usually keep in the clouds.
[Yep Robert, it flies]
