So, I'm going to wedding #3 next weekend in Rhode Island and it will be wonderful. Then wedding #4 is in Kansas City, KS on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. I have a one-way ticket to KC and now I'm thinking ... why not rent a car, drive to another city after the wedding, hang out there Sunday, and fly back from there Monday? Difficulty level: deep flyover country. Options:
Minneapolis - 7.5 hours
Champaign-Urbana - 7 hours
Oklahoma City - 5.5-6 hours
St. Louis - 4 hours
Des Moines - 3.5-4 hours
Omaha - 3 hours
So I've been to STL, and once was enough honestly, and the other places nearby-ish seem like they'd be fun IF I had someone to visit who could show me around and introduce me to their friends. Chambana is far and poor timing, I think. MPLS would be awesome and has direct flights to Puerto Rico IIRC, but, far.
Thoughts? "Just fly home and don't try to extract a fun, sane roadtrip from the Deep Midwest" may be the right answer.
EDIT: Well why don't I just FLY to Minneapolis? Feasibility study to follow.
