I'm going to do a 10K at the end of February. Running is... enjoyable. Whoa. It requires proper stretching beforehand, ambient air temperature optimal for effective vasodilation, sunset/twilight, dance music, and really loud KMFDM when dance music isn't enough. It's gonna take well over an hour for me to finish 6.2 miles, but so be it. I exercise five times a week now, who cares if I never get into single-digit mile times?
My sister (not the one with the jackhole bf) visited for the first half of January. She is a very different person from what she was like before she went to Korea. She improved my life in lots of little ways while she was here, and it was a deep pleasure to spend a chunk of time with her -- I hadn't done so in... years and years.
She took Natasha with her when she left. I couldn't give Natasha all the care and supervision she needed to get better, and my mom and sister can. So. Did you know Siamese, as a breed, tend to self-injure? That explains why Natasha kept hurting herself, several times, while I wasn't home, after her initial fall. She is doing great in california. And running up a big vet bill, which I feel bad for shifting onto my family, but I can pay that back later, and my pride -- and shame that I can't properly care for her myself -- wasn't a good reason to keep her here.
I'll get her back in June, as I'll be in SF the first weekend thereof for a wedding. Well, if bringing her back seems like the best thing to do, I will. Maybe PR is just bad for her. Boris is *so* lonely. And cabin feverish like whoa. His leg is doing great. He may start getting the pins taken out starting in April.
I am about to have a crazy visitor schedule. On Tuesday, Quinn arrives to stay for a whole month. I am really looking forward to this, as my sister's two-week stay reminded me how nice it is to have someone else around the house, and Quinn in particular will make a nifty guest. While she's here, my friend Alya and her husband and baby will be here for a week, *and* one of
chimerically's friends will be here one weekend overlapping with Alya, so I'll probably try to see her too, though I don't know her. (I meet good people that way!) Then Quinn leaves in early March, and two days later my friend Mike comes for a week and leaves on St. Patrick's Day. Then I will finally have alone time.
I'm really broke. I'm working on a short story about robots because I can't stand to start editing my NaNovel. I watched four seasons of Entourage in January. The NYT Style section has somehow become an object of fascination for me. Also the Health section. 5" high heels! Red cabbage! Fixer-uppers full of art! Barefoot running!
All right, I should get to work. Work is good. I'm branching out in whom I hang out with (being that coworkers = social life), my job itself is fine, and I adore my boss. And the days are getting longer, so kicking off at 5:45 means there's still light to go running when I get home.
