TG performed the - well, a -
score to Derek Jarman's In the Shadow of the Sun, while the film played on one big and two smaller screens. I was way off to the side of the room and couldn't see GPO at all during the entire thing because he was hidden by a giant bank of speakers. After the film was over, they performed "Persuasion," so I did get to see GPO in all his vaguely Dame Edna-esque glory. And then they left the stage. The whole thing took about an hour.
Cosey Fanni Tutti is slightly older than my mom. My mom is fucking awesome, but I kind of wish Cosey was my mom.
The two people who sold me their extra ticket had driven down from San Francisco. They're the principals behind
Katabatik Records and they are putting on a free afterparty following TG's (sold-out) show in SF on Thursday (see link), plus another show this month, if you are in SF.
Los Angeles has been good to me.
P.S. J.G. Ballard died on Sunday and nobody told me. A tear of petrol is in my eye.
