Summary: Danny realized that sometimes it's just better not knowing.
Author's Note: When I first saw my prompt for the challenge this weekend, a Steve and Danny phone call popped into my head immediately. No beta other than myself and the hemingway app.
He pulled his phone from his pocket and grinned. "Hey. You're not going to ask me what I"m wearing are you? Because if you do, I can't get into a conversation like that since I'm In public."
"No, that's your question for me."
"No. I know what you're always wearing. I only ask that question because I know the answer and you won't have to violate any privacy laws."
"Daniel."
Danny knew that tone. That tone meant it was time to shut up and listen to whatever it was Steve had to say. "Yes?"
"The reason I called is because I heard some gossip earlier today when I picked Grace up from school."
"You picked her up from school?"
"Yes, but that's not my point. My point is that you are a DILF."
"A what?"
"I know you know what that is."
"Steven, these are things I'd prefer not to know. They're too young. I'm not on their radar."
"You don’t want to know I’m not the only one that thinks you’re hot? When Grace told me, my first thought was telling you as soon as possible."
"Wait. I know my daughter better never say that about anyone."
Steve laughed. "No, not exactly. Grace didn't use that exact term. She did say that a couple of older girls were giggling about you. Also, one of her friends has a single mother that was asking about you."
"What? Now you're messing with me."
"No, that's exactly what Grace told me. And I heard moms talking about some club you were in?"
"I'm not in any..."
"Now, before you get all huffy and go into a full on Danny rant, it might just be talk."
"Steven."
"Danny, I thought you might be interested."
"In one of the mothers? No. They've all seen me there with you. We go to lots of school functions together. Why would they think I would be interested in one of them?" Danny was shaking his head, trying to wrap his mind around what Steve was telling him.
"Look, I can do some recon if you want. It could be fun. It would keep me busy while you're gone."
"No. No recon."
"Please?"
"No, I don't want to know. Let me repeat myself. I do not want to know."
Steve laughed and agreed not to investigate. He filled Danny in on everything else happening on the island . He waited a second and had to say goodbye because of a call about work. "I love you, Danny."
"I love you too, Steve. And remember, no recon." Danny was a little worried when he heard laughter on the other end before the line went dead.
