Today at Mass, Drew walked up to communion with me, he received a blessing from the priest, I received communion. As I was saying, "Amen," Drew said, in a voice as big as all outdoors, "HEY JESUS. MY MOMMY'S GOING TO HAVE A BABY!"

I guess it's good to keep Jesus apprised of these things.

Today:

• Off to a doctor's appointment (hopefully we'll get new pictures of the baby, but I'm not holding my breath)
  
• Pick up coffee / hot chocolate on the way (Drew: "It's coffee day! It's coffee day!")
  
• Pick up some stuff from my office that I couldn't get home on my bike
  
• Swing by the grocery store
  
• Decorate cookies for Santa
  
• Mass this afternoon

I woke up some time before 6:00am this morning. Drew took a 3 1/2 hour nap yesterday, but we paid for it today. He got up early and didn't take a nap today. NO NAP.

We sang All Will Be Well as a post-communion reflection today at Mass. They didn't do the verses, just the refrain a handful of times. (I sang the verses to myself in the pew.) Go St. John's rocking the Notre Dame Folk Choir songs. And I saved a seat for Zhulee and Will (and Bailey), so we all sat together. And Fr. Joe was the celebrant. Good ( Read more... )

"I drinking juice!" said Drew, loud enough that the lector appeared to pause for a moment and try to shake off the giggle.

What if superpowers faded with time? I was thinking about this in Mass on Sunday as I stood there with Drew in my arms singing a hymn. The choir at our church is really good. So Drew and I went to the 10:00am Mass this Sunday at St. John's. It was gorgeous out and we walked, singing Itsy-bitsy Spider for most of the way. We got there in plenty of time and it is definitely still summer, because it's still easy to get a seat (something about 30,000 people being home for the summer helps ( Read more... )

My Dad called me a little while ago. He is at the Washington Nationals ballpark for the Papal Mass! Crazy!
