Maybe the SEC is the best conference in college football...
ALSO, when Notre Dame lost badly to a higher-ranked and heavily favored LSU team in the Sugar Bowl, sports writers broke their wrists writing stories about how ND had been "exposed" and clearly wasn't deserving of a BCS bowl bid. There was talk that Brady Quinn's performance in that loss (15/35, 148 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) would drop him from the upper echelon of the NFL Draft.
The score of that ignominious game was 41-14. The exact same score of the Florida versus Ohio State game. Troy Smith really covered himself in glory during this game, too. Oh, I'm sorry, that's consensus Heisman winner Troy Smith. It doesn't change the turd he laid in the punch bowl, though. Just look at his line from the game: Troy Smith: 4/14, 35 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble lost. Yes! Now I know why everyone in the sports media has been fellating him for so long! He is the best! There is no doubt about it! Clearly, he is deserving of the Heisman Trophy and the overall #1 pick in the NFL draft.
OSU was exposed and I loved every minute of it. My only regret is that I wasn't in Columbus to pour gas on the fires. I'm not holding my breath for the same negative press for OSU that ND received. Instead you'll see articles about how 50 days is too long of a layoff, that the mysterious injury to Ted Ginn, Jr. caused a shake-up in their gameplan, or that Florida really is that good.
