The people that got offended by that Kerry quote need to feel the loving kiss of a red hot fireplace poker on the inside of their sphincter.

Here's what I had to say about that yesterday, on somebody else's entry ( ... )

From your livejournal to Howard Dean's ears:

"I think it also focuses on the President's own intemperate language," Dean told reporters this morning. "Saying that voting for Democrats is voting for the terrorists to win, I think is intemperate, especially coming from a guy who is criticising someone who did serve, and President Bush has never served."

Oh, and here's an actual thoughtful response to the entire thing:

No joke. This is an administration that has decimated veteran's benefits all while creating a whole new generation of angry, frustrated veterans, and they have the fucking gall to reproach ANOTHER veteran of an equally fucked up war for stating the obvious?!

My dad ended up joining the army. Why? Cause he was flunking out of school. Hmmm.

Oh, you're joking there. Got it. 'Cause my Grandpa joined the Army on purpose, by going to West Point. So did my Dad. So did my older brother-in-law, and my younger brother-in-law, so did my younger sister.

I got in to West Point but decided I wanted to go to ND instead.

But honestly, the bullshit that has been raining down from this administration regarding veterans affairs, benefits, deployments, recruiting, tactics, strategy (or lack thereof), and diplomacy is unbelievable sometimes.

No, actually, I wasn't joking. He was just lucky enough to be sent to Turkey instead of Vietnam, although I don't know really too much of the specifics. But people joining the army because of doing poorly in school is a viable phenomenon. Granted, it's far from the only reason people enlist, but it is a reality.

Wait...you weren't joking?

Have you ever been in a Turkish prison? Have you ever been in a cockpit before? Have you ever seen a grown man naked?

I've been to a Turkish bath. Is that the same?

I've also worn a pilot suit and had someone drop me off on an aircraft carrier. So, technically, I served, too.
