So I tried to refill my prescription for antidepressants yesterday, and it was denied as needing a prior authorization. All very logical EXCEPT that my insurance has been paying for it since August without a word of complaint. Then my doctor sent in the request for approval and it was denied. Of course, neither my doctor nor the nurse practitioner I see there has bothered to return my phone calls about it. So I have no idea what I'm going to do. Since I've been on the medication so long, I'd think I would need to taper off of it, which will be a little difficult since I only have 4 pills left. GRRRRRRR. Then, I got a letter last fall saying I would have no copay for generics until after I used $2500 of drugs, but I am now being charged a copay anyway. And of course, the people I talk to on the phone are perfectly nice, and it's not their fault that this is happening, but it is very frustrating that they basically just shrug and say "I dunno" when I ask about any of the inconsistencies. I would at least like someone to apologize for someone making a mistake somewhere. Either they were wrong to pay for it all of last fall, or they're wrong to deny it now (it isn't because the formulary changed.) Grumble, grumble, grumble. I will get it worked out, and it will be fine in the end, but I hate being jerked around.
