Wikia General show information Personality:
Ran Mouri is the heroine and one of the major characters in the long-running manga and anime series, Detective Conan. She is first seen, bullying Shinichi into taking her to Tropical Land, as a reward for her winning the city’s karate championship tournament; so the first thing one might notice about her is that she is rather pushy. She has the skills to back it up, of course, being a karate champ, and isn’t afraid to use them! She is the last person to see Shinichi as Shinichi himself, before he shrinks into Conan, and even when he makes the effort to keep in touch with her the best he can via his phone and a bowtie voice changer, she is always insisting that they get together, always asking where he is and what he’s been doing.
Beneath that aggression, however, Ran is actually a very gentle and caring person. This is of course especially true for Shinichi, since one of the main reasons she’s always asking about him and wanting to see him is because she misses him a lot. But she really cares for everyone, and is sort of a ‘mother hen’ in this regard. Her best friend Sonoko, the Detective Boys (Conan, Ayumi, Ai, Genta, and Mitsuhiko), even her mother and father (Eri and Kogoro, respectively) in particular receive this treatment, and it’s clear she would do anything for them.
The fourth serial movie, Captured in Her Eyes, shows good examples of this mindset and how selfless she can be. First of all, the movie itself focuses on the premise that Ran has temporarily lost her memory due to a traumatic event in which she witnesses the shooting of Detective Satou-just one in a string of cop murders (in this case, attempted murder, since Satou survives). She blames herself for this, and the fact that it affects her so strongly that it gives her amnesia shows that she has a very strong conscience and sense for protecting others. And even when her memory is completely wiped and she has no idea who she is, she still worries about everyone: assuring them that she’ll get her memory back soon, even though she really has no idea if that’s true or not.
When the murderer in the movie begins to target her (since she saw his face), the young Detective Boys offer to protect her, starting a “Ran Mouri Protection Squad”; and she also playfully assures them that she feels much safer now, even though they’re only using toy guns and handcuffs-things you wouldn’t think could protect anyone. She does this so that they can feel important, putting their needs before her own, even though she’s probably scared for her life. She does the same thing for her parents, when they start arguing; she laughs, even though she is still so confused and disoriented at the time from her memory loss, which gets them to stop fighting and keeps their spirits up. In addition, she says that she’s not even sure she wants to remember the horrible thing that happened to her, but that she’s willing to try anything if it will help them catch the murderer.
This movie also does a good job of showing just how strong of an influence Shinichi has on her life. Even under amnesia, when she freely admits that she doesn’t know who he is upon seeing pictures of them together, she says she misses him, though she doesn’t know or remember why. Shinichi’s words in general also seem to have a strong impact on her, as she remembers them and is inspired by them during times that they’re important. In the sixth movie, for example, The Phantom of Baker Street, a climactic scene takes place on top of a moving train, when Ran finds herself attached to a virtual Jack the Ripper, with no way to escape or save Conan from him. Remembering Shinichi’s babbling about Sherlock Holmes gives her the idea to jump off the train, taking Jack the Ripper with her-essentially killing herself in the virtual world, leaving her fate of whether or not she’ll ever wake up in the real world in the hands of Conan, who as far as she’s concerned, is only an eight-year-old boy. This shows that she not only is self-sacrificing, but has a great deal of trust in Conan, and Shinichi.
In addition, during The Night Baron Mystery Murder three-parter, another conversation that she remembers having with Shinichi inspires her again to eventually help corner the true murderer of the arc/episode. She asked Shinichi about what he would do if he had solved a murder and found out that someone close to him was the perpetrator, and he responds by saying flat out that he would call them out on it-but only after he’s exhausted every lead, every miniscule piece of evidence to try to prove them innocent. Ran then realizes that this is what she has to do, to clear her karate idol of murder-she exhausts every lead she can find after thinking on the conversation and it leads her to find that her karate idol has a solid alibi for the time of the murder, but did not bring it up because he wanted to implicate himself and protect his love-whom he found out was the true murderer.
Ran’s relationship with Shinichi clearly reveals her to be a very romantic person as well. In the first serial movie, “The Time Bombed Skyscraper,” she agonizes over Shinichi’s birthday and what to get him, as well as setting up plans to meet with him to celebrate, even though Shinichi never remembers his own birthday. She thinks of it as so important that she takes it upon herself to organize it every year; and she also takes to heart that their special color is red-her favorite. She treasures it so much that during the climax of the movie, when she’s forced to decide which wire to cut to disarm a very dangerous bomb, she chooses to cut the other wire (blue), simply because she doesn’t want to cut the red one, which she thinks symbolizes her relationship to Shinichi. In addition, in the fourth movie, she’s shown to be very interested in things like how her father proposed to her mother; and even though it’s a phrase so simple (“I love you…more than anyone else I’ve ever met/more than anyone else on the planet”), she still gets hearts in her eyes when she hears it. It even triggers her memory at the end of the movie, when Conan repeats the phrase back to her.
In conclusion, Ran Mouri is a tough girl with the karate skills to back it up, but is a gentle spirit at heart, taking it upon herself to take care of the people she loves most, and who love her in return. She is a romantic; she’s selfless and self-sacrificing and although she is so very frustrated by Shinichi’s absence, she shows no signs of abandoning hope, and she’ll never stop waiting for him.
Powers & Abilities:
Ran is an ordinary high-school student, and thus has no “superpowers,” per se, at least none that are magical; but as mentioned before, she’s won the karate championship tournament, and is considered the Regional Champion for her age group. Her karate skills falter or when she is scared; and in the case of the fourth movie when she gets amnesia, she doesn’t remember them at all. But she picks them right back up quickly when her memory is restored, and is able to save herself and Conan from the murderer who is about to kill them. This shows that she is adaptive; and in addition, she is also a great cook (unlike her mother), she can clean, and is more than capable of taking care of herself, her father, and Conan. It’s her who keeps everyone in line at the Mouri Detective Agency.
What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo?

“Sonoko, stop that,” Ran exclaims, as she waves her hand and takes a step away from her best friend.
It’s all in jest of course; they’re both giggling now, as the two of them look into the mirror, seeing Ran in her beautiful red dress which she picked out herself that very day. Sonoko’s hands are still wandering, trying to help her; trying to pull up the dress straps, adjust them. Trying to help Ran, like she had done for her so many times before. But Ran resists her efforts, continuously shooing her away with her hand until Sonoko gives up. This is something she wants to do herself, after all; preparing for her special date with Shinichi is something that only she can do, and though she appreciated Sonoko’s opinions on things like her dress and jewelry, it’s ultimately her decision and she needs her to understand that.
So she politely smiles, as she turns herself around, seeing how nicely the dress fits her, after all is said and done.
“See? I can do this myself. Why don’t you go downstairs and tell my father so he doesn’t have a heart attack when he sees me?”
With that, Sonoko obeys, like a younger sister obeys the older one. She leaves, while she’s gone, Ran decides to put on the finishing touches, putting beautiful clips in her hair and even applying on a little bit of make up-just enough to highlight her natural beauty, but not enough to go overboard and hide it. It’s what Shinichi would want, after all; he was always a simple man, and she doubts he would even notice that she’s wearing make-up tonight. But that’s just how he is, and she didn’t mind it. She wouldn’t have it any other way, in fact, since this is the man she became friends with. This is the man she’s grown to love since childhood, and this is the man she’d wait for, for the rest of her life if she had to.
So she goes downstairs with a smile, taking her cell phone with her; eager for the moment when she can finally see him again.

H-huh? W-wait a minute, this…this isn’t Beika…
[ Ran has a woken to find herself in a strange world, one that doesn’t seem the least bit familiar. After having dinner with Shinichi last night, solving yet another murder, and having that weird dream about being asleep on a lab table, she wonders if anything is a coincidence anymore. ]
Shinichi? [ A pause, as she tries to look around, in hopes that maybe he’s come back again. She sees only shadows; monsters, the likes of which she’d never seen before-some big and some small. ] O-oh, great…
[ She finds an enclosed area to hide in, in that strange barren wasteland, breathing heavily and trying not to make a sound. ]
First he ditches me and now I end up here? Somebody please tell me I’m still dreaming…
[ And she closes her eyes for just a moment, as if to wish really hard. She opens them soon after, however, upon feeling no change, and feels a small device in her pocket. She thinks it’s her phone, at first-that’s right, maybe she can call someone for help!-but no. It’s something far less familiar, and when she tries to figure out how to use it, she sees the ominous note attached. ]
‘Use this’? But what is it?
[ She pushes a few buttons, and her eyes seem to light up upon seeing something happen on the screen. Is-is she doing something right? ]
