Usual boring deputy chief fare, really. Mel comes into the office, Mel reads paperwork...
Mel rereads paperwork.
Mel backs up, and leans against the wall facing Makita's cell and sighs.
"Wish I could say I've never wanted to do that."

"Steph?" she asks, in a 'was it...?' tone of voice.

Mel starts, and looks sheepish. "I assumed you found out... they have a history. You know, the type with a big H. Not that it warrents shooting or anything... what was it?"

Still, it's lonely work, and she wouldn't mind some company, or even an outright distraction.

Steph was here briefly, earlier, but it was a fly-in fly-out sort of visit. It's taken her a while to settle herself down enough to come back.
She drifts down the aisle and leans against the cell opposite 'Kita's.

Jack heads towards her, not seeing the transparent cell door, and bumps straight into it, falling on his bottom.

With a siiiiigh and a chagrined look. "I brought dice, 'case you get bored."
He sits down, and passes them over-- Steph has vouched for him and the items, so there they go. "You get to roll 'em for me if we play, though. Don't worry, I trust you."
There's a wink there.
Angry? Jet? Pfft. He's not gonna be angry. He's guessing he'd probably do the same in her position. They were far too alike, he and Makita.

She sighs too, "I lost my temper. The guy didn't need to die." It's been a new experience for her too. She's not used to thinking of people in categories beyond friends and threats.

Small blessings.
"Yeah, I know how that is. 'cept I tend not to explode, I tend to plot." He shrugs and says, "What did he do, 'Kita?"
He'll sit and listen.

Makita's fists clench by her side, "He said that what the Reds were doing back home was right."
