Those heading to the Infirmary in search of Steph may be surprised and pleased to find her bed empty.

Of course, if they look around they'll realise she hasn't actually been released; she's just decided her own bed wasn't what she wantedNow she's stretched out atop the covers on the one just to its left, cuddled against a tired and pale fire ( Read more... )

Zuko is sleeping remarkably well for all that he's acquired a limpet.

Mind you, waking up to blond hair tickling his nose has never been good. But at least this time he doesn't sneeze smoke. He just sneezes once, and then turns his head, blinking.

"Nngh?"

"Hey," Steph says, and brushes her hair off his face guiltily. "Oops."

There is another sound, but Zuko cannot properly do what he does in bed; roll over, tug her against him, and spoon against her back possessively. Instead, he hides his face in at her collar, and goes quiet.

He'll be like that for a bit.

That's okay. It brings a soft smile to her face, the way he's all warm and snuggly against her; she strokes his hair and waits for him to wake up properly. Or go to sleep again, if that's what he needs.

Indy is not confounded by the empty bed. He's pretty sure Hank wouldn't have let her leave, and, barring some healing magic miracle, he certainly wouldn't have discharged her yet.

"What a surprise. Brown's alseep again," he says flatly once he's spied her and dragged a chair over. Apart from that one moment of bleary incoherence last week, she's slept through every one of his visitations. Not that he minds talking to her while she sleeps—recounting past adventures isn't too much of a burden.

"Hmmm... where were we? Oh yes... Verdun 1916. So, there I was crossing No-man's Land towards the German trenches. Under cover of darkness, with nothing but the the stench of death and decay to keep me company..."

"You know," Steph says, without opening her eyes, "you tell the worst bedtime stories."

Then she grins, and looks up at him.

"Hi."

He clears his throat awkwardly. "Oh. Hi."

"Yeah. I was just trying to gross you into acknowledgin' me. Knew you were awake."

"Sure you did," Steph agrees amiably. "Where's Verdun?"

Steph lifts her head from Zuko's shoulder, and when she sees Katara, grins widely. "Hi! I haven't seen you for ages."

"I'm okay," Steph says, "but thanks! You can heal? Really? That's totally cool."

She doesn't want to be healed, because then Zuko would make her go away, and he needs someone to stay with him until he's better. Steph has decided this. It isn't very logical, but she's determined to stay here as long as he needs her. She eyes him thoughtfully, and then looks at Katara again.

"...can you heal Firebenders, even?"

Well, there's pillow from her own bed on her feet.

'M just sayin'.

Why's there a pillow there? Weird place for it.

Steph peers at it. Iiiiiinteresting.

To stop them getting cold, of course. It's a very pillowy pillow. Fluffed and insulating and everything. Yep.

It'd be a good place to sit, too. If someone wanted to sit there. Of course, there's the risk of being kicked.

Hank is quiet. His genes gives him certain strengths and moving quietty is one of them. Thus, there is a Hank nearby, not so suddenly, watching the Monitor on both of their systems and nodding, before glancing at them. A sad smile crosses his lips.

She's a little more of the way towards asleep than awake right now; she's warm, and she can feel Zuko's heartbeat, and it's much easier to relax now that she really knows he's going to be okay. There's just something about having him within arm's reach.

Still, she's a Bat; she's good at knowing when someone's approaching. So her eyes are open a wee crack and she's watching Hank, sleepily.

Hank taps another button, then turns to them again and smiles. He steps closers and looks over them, nodding as he makes sure their lines are okay and the medicine is currnt.

"Slowly, but you'll heal."

His voice is less than a whisper, almost a subvocalization.

"Am I nearly better?" she asks, voice almost as low as his. She doesn't want to wake her ninja.
