Finished two more books...and I am still typing on this tiny keyboard so i dont want to hear about no typos...worse of all is that the move up a paragraph move to beginning of paragraph are right next to the shift key, and thus too easy to hit,,,,
ok..first of all, I finished More Adventures of Samurai Cat. See, he is a cat (though actually the size of a puma, and he seems to be bipedal and have opposable thumbs) and he is a samurai from the 16h century who travels in time and space to avenge his dead lord....which probably means he is actually a ronin rather than a samurai....any way, I have read the last book of the series (s.c. goes to hell, a lampooning of dante) and now this book, which is lavishly illustrated with both black and white and also colour drawings...many deaths, described in graphic detail, and not so much a pardoy as a lampooning of king arthur, barsroom, and star wars--a very very silly book - and gory.
also finished zipes Breaking the Magic Spell. more marxist discussion of folk and fairy tales, including an interesting and surprisingly jargon free and interesting analysis of why Harry Potter is enjoyable but vacuous, praise for Tolkien and Pullman, a thorough lambasting of Bettleheim's influential but idiotic-freudian analysis of faisry tales and lots of thoroughly deserved disparaging and distaste of disney...also a bit on why the original novel SHREK is even better than the film...the longest chapter is amarxist analysis of the rise of fairy tales in germany...awful and boring..the rest of the book is actually very good,...
